Why upload is often lower
Cable, DSL and mobile networks frequently reserve more capacity for downloads because that matches typical consumer traffic. Fibre plans are more likely to offer similar speed in both directions.
Which number should you improve?
If streaming buffers, focus on download and Wi-Fi quality. If your camera freezes or backups take hours, focus on upload. If both numbers look fine but interactions lag, inspect ping and jitter.
